Exploring e-books
Starting Point
Searching for books
For a side selection of books on the doctrine of your choice, use the Walsh/OPAL library catalog at
or the OhioLINK catalog at
http://olc1.ohiolink.edu/search
Enter the advanced search mode, then use the phrase CATHOLIC CHURCH--DOCTRINES or THEOLOGY--DOCTRINAL as a subject, and on another line, key in the doctrinal area of your choice (such as "social justice," "sexuality," "heaven," etc. You can also use the phrases CATHOLIC CHURCH--CUSTOMS AND PRACTICES if you are seeking information on the development of practices.
Journal Articles
For journal articles, use the library's journal databases, available at
http://libguides.walsh.edu/religion
Especially useful are the ATLA Catholic Periodical and Literature Index, and Origins, the weekly documentary service of the National Council of Catholic Bishops. When searching the Catholic Periodical and Literature Index, the phrase History of Doctrines as a subject, combined with a topic of your choice, such as "death" or "marriage" will yield focused results.
