Review and Study Tools

StudyBlue is a great tool for designing flash cards, quizzes, review sheets, and more. Instructors can create course materials and share it with their students. Students can share their content with others. The best feature of StudyBlue is that students can access it from any mobile device.

Quizlet is another tool used to create study content for flashcards, review sheets, and more. You can find a teacher Quick Start Guide with this link

Successfully Integrating Technology in the Classroom

  1. Get Comfortable. Make sure you know how the technology works and that you can complete the objectives of the lesson.
  2. Don't Assume. Not all students are Digital Residents and even if they own a smartphone they may not know how to use the technology. Take some time to ask students about their comfort level with the technology and go over the basics.
  3. Change it up. PowerPoint is not the only presentation software available. Finding new technologies to address standard concepts can help make lessons fresh and exciting. Don't forget to "get comfortable" with it first, though!
  4. Have a backup. Technology fails. Accessibility issues can prevent students from accessing your lesson. Try to have a backup plan for how to complete the lesson objectives without technology.

Concept Mapping

  • Popplet is a free online tool that allows you to create mind mapping and brainstorming diagrams.

Connected Classroom

  • Poll Everywhere is a tool that instructors can use to poll their class on any platform.
  • Padlet can be used to connect your students and their ideas before, during and after class.
  • Flipboard is an aggregator of web links, news outlets and other interests. It facilitates a 'webzine' environment where the content creator grabs URLs to various pages, videos, pictures, blogs, etc. around a theme or interest.  Create a cover picture/link, manage the layout and flow of content and you have a virtual project space!
  • Storify is an easy way to collect and share material from all over the internet in a way that can produce a narrative.
  • Twitter is a microblogging site that can be used for anything from formative assessment to classroom participation.
