An Op-Ed (short for "opposite the editorial") is a written opinion piece, typically published in newspapers or magazines. It offers commentary or analysis on current issues, written by someone outside the publication’s editorial team.

  • End with impact – Leave the reader with a strong closing thought.

  • Keep it tight – Aim for 600–800 words, short sentences.

  • Match the outlet – Adapt tone and style to where you're submitting.

  • Edit hard – Cut fluff, make every word count.
