Sectional anatomy is a valuable resource for understanding and interpreting imaging exams, specially computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Thus, health professionals should have a solid anatomical knowledge to properly evaluate such exams during clinical assessments of cardiac, thoracic, abdominal, proctologic, gynecological and urological diseases.

This textbook on the digestive system was developed in collaboration with medical students to meet both students' and teachers' needs and objectives. It is currently the official gastroenterology textbook for undergraduate students in all French medical schools in Canada, and is also used in Europe and Africa. The first part of the book covers the eight main organs of the digestive system, while the second half discusses the major clinical diseases and symptoms that affect the digestive system.

The human digestive system plays an important role in processing food in order to provide nutrients that the body can use. This well-illustrated text presents the basics of anatomy, physiology and disease of the human digestive system by answering a series of questions relevant to the various components of this system.
