From Athena to Artemis: Jessica Meir

Biography

Jessica Meir began her astronaut career in the 2013 astronaut class. Her background consists of a B.A. in Biology, M.S. in Space Studies, and a Ph.D. in Marine biology. In the early 2000’s she began her career in spaceflight by working at Lockheed Martin’s Human Research Facility. At the same time, she served as an aquanaut in an underwater habitat for NASA Extreme Environment Mission Operations (NEEMO). Her space flight career consists of being a flight engineer on the ISS for Expedition 60 and 61. Along with that, partnered with Christina Koch, she took place in the first ever all-female spacewalk.
